Greybeards Hockey Foundation
Greybeards Hockey Foundation has obtained official non-profit status.
GHF is an independent foundation that was created to help our hockey community in times of very difficult situations; inspired when Eric Stahl had a very serious accident, long-term hospital stay and rehabilitation. Players and their families pulled together to provide resources and assistance for his family while he was recovering. Considering the large and tight-knit hockey community we have here in Knoxville, we were moved to create a foundation that would have funds available when such crises arise.
A board has been created to oversee the foundation. In addition, they will manage the annual hockey tournament, a fundraiser for the Sled Bears.
The foundation was named Greybeards in respect to the 50 and older hockey group who have stepped up to help several causes within our community but is not affiliated directly with the group. GHF will focus on our entire Knoxville hockey family should a need arise. Each situation is different, and the board will review and make a recommendation on how to help the individual or family.
Many thanks to Chris Donsbach and his wife, attorney Rachel Donsbach, for setting up our 501(c)3 status. Chris and Rachel are a KAHA family, the kids and dad play, and you may have seen Rachel’s banner in the Cool Sports lobby. A PayPal account has been set up and initial goodwill donations are much appreciated in order to establish a reserve. Also be on the lookout for some future fundraising events.
